Iconeek is very proud to introduce here a very fine and vey rare, self-winding, astronomical, chronograph wristwatch with perpetual calendar, the most complicated piece of the Chopard House in the 1990s, in a limited edition of 50 pieces: the ref. 36/1224.

Launched in the beginning of the 1990s, the model was available in 18K yellow gold (such as the present watch), 18K pink gold and platinum. All versions were limited to 50 pieces each. The retail prices were approx. 36’550 USD for the yellow gold, 37’150 USD for the white gold, 40’350 USD for the platinum.

In French catalogs, the model was listed at over 200’000 French francs in 1999. The model was the most complicated of the whole Chopard’s collection featuring unusual complications for a wristwatch such as: number of weeks, four season and 24 indications, in addition to the complete perpetual calendar and chronograph.

The 41 mm. diameter, round-shaped, solid, polished 18K yellow gold case is set with straight and curved lugs, a transparent case back secured with 8 screws, correctors on the band for the perpetual calendar, sapphire crystals (front and back), and rectangular chronograph pushers. Under the sapphire crystal, the white dial, from gold plate, is fitted with painted radial Roman numerals, yellow gold feuille hands and an outer fifths of a second divisions. We also find four subsidiary guilloche silvered dials for:  the constant seconds combined with the seasons and date, at 12, the weeks indication combined with the moon phases, at 3, the 12 hour register, 24 hour indication and the day, at 6, and finally the 30 minute register combined with the month and leap year indications, at 9. Even with all these complications, the dial remains readable and « airy ».

The watch is powered by a reputed movement from a base caliber JLC 889/2, mechanical with automatic winding, the underdial work for perpetual calendar and chronograph is made by Dubois Depraz for Chopard. This caliber has approx. 43 hours autonomy, 54 jewels, rhodium-plated, fausses cotes decoration, straight-lever escapement, monometallic balance adjusted to 5 positions, shock absorber, self-compensating flat balance spring, micrometer regulator, hack mechanism, a 21K gold rotor segment. Dial, case and movement are signed. The present watch is numbered 05 out of 50 pieces and has been fully serviced in November 2012.

With its 11 Complications, this Chopard is an extremely fine and rare complicated elegant wristwatch, with useful complications, for the watch enthusiasts.
